What Nespresso machines does the Bluecup work with?
The Bluecup capsules work with Nespresso machines manufactured after October 2010. You can check whether your machine is suitable for the Bluecup by checking that the sleeve that holds the capsule when you close the machine is made of black plastic, NOT aluminum. The black plastic sleeve works best for the Bluecup system.
What would happen if I used the Bluecup with a Nespresso machine manufactured before 2010?
If you accidentally use the Bluecup in a Nespresso machine with an aluminum trim instead of a black one, it’s highly likely the capsule will not fit into the spoon holder.
How many times can a Bluecup be used?
Your Bluecup can be used in your Nespresso machine at least 200 times. Do make sure your machine was manufactured after October 2010. See also the answer to “What Nespresso machines does the Bluecup work with.”
Can all the components of the Bluecup go into the dishwasher?
Yes, they have been tested for things such as durability and food safety. All components passed the tests.
Have the lid, capsule and spoon been tested for food safety and durability?
Yes, they have been tested for things such as durability and food safety. All components passed the tests.
Can I use all ground espresso coffees?
The choice of espresso coffee and the size of the grind determine whether the extraction of the coffee is optimal when the water runs through the capsule in the machine. Not all ground espresso coffees will work well. See also the section on coffee.
My espresso is too watery
This has two possible causes:
- either you ran too much water through the capsule
- or the water ran through in less than 30 seconds
We recommend the following:
- Fill the Bluecup with as much espresso coffee as possible
- Pack the coffee more tightly into the capsule
If this doesn’t produce the desired result, then:
- the espresso coffee may need to be ground more finely
- or you will need to add more finely ground espresso to the espresso coffee that has already been ground
My coffee is too strong and the water doesn’t run through it
This has two possible causes:
- either there is too little water running through the capsule
- or the water runs through in more than 40 seconds
We recommend the following:
- Put less espresso coffee in the Bluecup
- Don’t pack the coffee/pack it less tightly into the capsule
If this doesn’t produce the desired result, then:
- either the espresso coffee may need to be ground more coarsely
- or you will need to add more coarsely ground espresso to the espresso coffee that has already been ground
How many grams of espresso can a Bluecup hold?
A Bluecup can hold around 5.2 grams of ground coffee.
How many capsules do you need for Bluecup to work best for you?
Experience has shown us that you need to have at least 8 Bluecups to never be without espresso. When you fill these capsules every morning, you can enjoy delicious coffee all day.
